The Winter Spiral is a seasonal tradition at Marin Waldorf School, held in early December, a few weeks before the winter solstice. A celebration of the light that will return to earth as the seasons change and a moment to connect with our own inner light, the Winter Spiral seeks to inspire deep reflection and human warmth during the cold, quiet days of winter.
On Dec 1st, students and families will gather in a candle-lit room while each child quietly walks to the center of the spiral to light their candle and then place their candle along the path. The winter spiral celebrates carrying one’s own light in the darkness and sharing it with others.
Friends and families are invited to watch our students take the journey into the spiral and carry with them the light that is shared in this beautiful tradition throughout the rest of winter.
